Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious trophy on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

Yet, Marseille struck twice late to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
