First-choice Lineup
Dean Henderson Not a save to perform during the opening 45 before forced to intervene from an opponent's bent shot. One well-timed sliding challenge on an Albanian attacker demonstrated sharp reading of the game. 6/10
Jarell Quansah Tested against the opposition's primary attacker in their forward. Started more centrally initially then shifted wider once a teammate was introduced. Seven
John Stones Pushed up the pitch with the ball at his feet, something he's known for in the past. Sometimes was too casual in possession with the tactic discontinued at half-time. Six
Dan Burn Always dangerous at set pieces, as always, but may be an alternative for Stones in defense instead of alongside him. A loose distribution after the break almost led to an opener from Albania. Six
Nico O’Reilly One more confident performance from the rising star after his first cap versus another side. A teammate failed to make the most of an exquisite flick behind their defense. The left-back spot is his to lose at this stage. 7
The newcomer A debut start with the national team. A bit sloppy in possession but his dangerous set-pieces were a threat. A useful pace-controller for the manager to call upon versus defensive opponents. Cautioned after a reckless foul. 6/10
The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free-kicks created chances. Had license to drift in left midfield yet found himself in an offside position upon receiving in front of goal. Granted a well-earned substitution around the 60-minute point. Six
Jude Bellingham Functioned in a forward role out wide and also did plenty of the hard yards. Showed flashes of quality and scuffed an attempt high. Withdrawn late on for a teammate, his rival, following a yellow card. 7/10
The winger Had the team's clearest opportunity of the first half, his strike smartly stopped from Thomas Strakosha. As Quansah hanging back, he was forced to provide width out wide yet his deliveries into the box varied in quality. Replaced with 15 to go. 6/10
Harry Kane The match-winner with his 77th and 78th strikes for his country. The first a classic poacher’s finish and the second a superb finish with his head having drifted away away from the opposition. Now 32, his form is unwavering and England are strong contenders in the upcoming tournament with him leading the line. Eight
The attacker Struggled to make an impact on the left flank. Had a decent opportunity following a pass by the midfielder however Strakosha denied him. Rashford produced a bigger influence when substituted. 5
