The Popular Show Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Strategists tables.

Fans can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
