The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure About Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Social Media Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
